Alicia tagged me with the Passion Quilt meme. The rules are as follows:

1) Think about what you are passionate about teaching your students.
2) Post a picture from a source like FlickrCC or Flickr Creative Commons or make/take your own that captures what YOU are most passionate about for kids to learn about…and give your picture a short title.
3)Title your blog post “Meme: Passion Quilt” and link back to this blog entry.
4)Include links to 5 folks in your professional learning network or whom you follow on Twitter/Pownce.

So here is my picture, or actually, not my picture, but one by meyshanworld. It is entitled “World Connection in Blue”.

It is really important to me to help my students — kids and adults — understand that there is a bigger world out there. I want them to think about different ways of thinking and being. With the Internet, it is much easier to do that than it used to be. We can learn about the world from the comfort of our own homes and schools. We can connect to each other and learn from people who live in locales very much like or unlike our own. We can cross borders that separate us geographically and politically and reach a truer understanding of the world.

Now, the hard part for me with these memes is finding people to tag. Most people I might be tempted to tag have already been tagged by others. So, as usual, I ask you to consider yourself tagged and respond to this meme if you haven’t already done so.
